The Maldives, an archipelago of idyllic islands seemingly scattered across crystalline waters, is a subtle reminder of nature's delicate balance. This evocative corner of the world is mesmerising yet resilient, thriving yet sensitive, an intuitive ecosystem that has long captured the hearts of travellers the world over.

Standing on the soft shores of Jumeirah Olhahali Island, every moment here is an invitation to reconnect with ourselves and our surroundings, and experience a profound sense of awe and peace. But beyond this sense of serenity lies a greater calling: to actively protect the colourful species of coral and sea life for generations to come.

Through thoughtful design and a deep respect for our environment, we have cultivated a philosophy that encourages each guest to embrace the sustainable practices of island life during their stay. Where every choice, no matter how great or small, empowers us to live more harmoniously with the Earth, lessening our environmental burden while fostering a deeper reverence for nature's wisdom.

Walk among the island’s natural wonders

Towering coconut trees, radiant jungle geraniums, and delicate hibiscus flowers are all thoughtfully selected to sustain the island’s ecosystem and promote biodiversity. These are the passions of Ali Wajeeh, our Gardening and Landscaping Manager, who guides guests through colourful stories of the resort’s lush gardens, exploring the harmony which exists here between man and nature. Be amongst wildlife, as hermit crabs scuttle along the sand and the white-breasted waterhen peeks from the underbrush.

For young explorers, the gardens offer not just adventure, but inspiration. These hands-on experiences ignite a lifelong appreciation for sustainability, planting the seeds for future guardians of the planet.

Diving deeper

The shimmering expanse of the Indian Ocean beckons adventurers. Whether snorkelling among vibrant coral reefs, diving alongside manta rays, or marvelling at dolphins from a semi-submarine, a world awaits beneath the waves.

For those eager to give back, coral planting workshops allow guests to contribute to the preservation of this delicate ecosystem. Under the guidance of marine experts, guests are invited to help nurture coral nurseries that foster biodiversity, safeguarding marine life, and providing vital protection for the coastline.

A sustainable feast

Dining on our island is a celebration of nature’s bounty and the resort’s commitment to sustainable practices. Fresh seafood is sourced from trusted local suppliers, ensuring the health of marine ecosystems is maintained, as well as the livelihoods of Maldivian fishing communities.

At Glow, the menu of international dishes elevates healthy eating and shares the benefits of fresh produce, whilst special plant-based menus including From the Garden delight both palate and planet. Culinary masterclasses offer guests a deeper connection to the process, celebrating mindful eating and a shared respect for the environment.

Embracing conscious living starts with simple yet impactful steps, such as reducing single-use plastics including water bottles, straws, and key cards. Our collective actions can spark meaningful change, inspiring guests to carry this ethos with them wherever they travel. We hope guests return home with a renewed sense of purpose, discovering sustainable rituals of their own to share with their loved ones. Together, we can ensure that the beauty of this place remains, inspiring generations to cherish and protect it.

A stay at Jumeirah Olhahali Island is more than a getaway; it is an opportunity to become part of something greater – a shared commitment to preserving the planet’s natural treasures. Here, every thoughtful action and meaningful experience creates ripples that extend far beyond these shores, contributing to a legacy of sustainability and care.
