Home to big name chefs and illustrious restaurants, London is a place where new culinary trends are forged and broken. From foraged fine dining to exquisite international flavours, book a table at one of these hot restaurants next time you’re in town.

Frog by Adam Handling

Covent Garden

When dining in the heart of theatreland, you’d expect a side order of showmanship with your dinner. Frog by Adam Handling delivers in spades. Mussels appear artfully perched on a bowl from which plumes of dry ice appear, while a yuzu milk crumble is daintily arranged across a neutral colour palette. The acclaimed chef’s dishes are unmistakably British and executed with technical wizardry. Explore the restaurant’s culinary repertoire with Frog’s five-course tasting menu.

Evelyn’s Table

Soho

Small but perfectly formed, the 11-seat Evelyn’s Table is one of the trendiest new restaurants in London. Located in the basement of the freshly-refurbished Blue Posts pub in Chinatown, the elegant and intimate eatery comes from the team behind the award-winning Palomar. Guests dine at a sleek marble counter while the chefs rustle up lovingly crafted modern European dishes – such as oxtail vaccinara, pappardelle and chervil or market-fresh lemon sole – right under their noses.

Core by Clare Smyth

Notting Hill

The only female chef to run a restaurant with three Michelin stars in the UK, Clare Smyth MBE needs little introduction. Her signature restaurant, Core is a small, sophisticated space in which you can savour her simple, beautiful English dishes. From the Morecambe Bay shrimps to the Isle of Mull scallops, provenance and sustainability underpin Core’s ingredients and ethos.

Ikoyi

St James’s

Putting a contemporary, fine dining spin on West African cuisine, Ikoyi is a refined yet low-key restaurant. You’re guaranteed to experience new and unlikely dishes here, such as monkfish with creamy Nigerian banga soup, and citrus asaro — a yam porridge. The menu is small but well curated. Choose from snacks, mains or sharing plates, and finish with a couple of vibrant desserts. Expect picture-perfect presentation and stylish surroundings at this hot new London restaurant.

Roganic

Marylebone

In the heart of London’s alluring Marylebone neighbourhood, Roganic is chef Simon Rogan’s latest London venture following his two-Michelin star Cumbria restaurant, L’Enclume. Here you can take a culinary tour around England via an imaginative 15-course tasting menu – each course, a piece of gastro-art in itself. Many of the ingredients at Roganic are foraged and there’s a standout farm-to-table philosophy here, from asparagus with bone marrow and leek ash, to caramelised apple with Douglas fir.

The Rib Room Bar & Restaurant

Knightsbridge

Experience elegant surroundings and choose from British dishes created by executive head chef, Simon Young. The legendary rib of beef, which has been on the menu since 1961, and the Dover sole, skilfully filleted at your table, are just a few of the delicious must-haves at The Rib Room at Jumeirah Carlton Tower. Expert mixologists serve an irresistible  selection of drinks, and there’s also a superb three-course Sunday roast lunch with classic prawn cocktail, signature roast rib of beef, and warm chocolate and Guinness brownies.
