United Arab Emirates, Dubai, 21 January 2025: In celebration of the Year of the Snake, Jumeirah properties worldwide are embracing this time of connection and togetherness with meaningful experiences for guests and creative collaborations that infuse seasonal gifts with special symbolism.
To mark the occasion, Jumeirah partnered with Master Tan Guanghui, the esteemed Chinese National-level Inheritor of the Intangible Heritage of Guangzhou Painted Porcelain, to commission “Golden Snake Blessings” artwork symbolising blessings and prosperity. In Master Tan’s skilled hands, humble clay is transformed into a shimmering golden-scaled snake in motion on a handmade ceramic gourd from Jingdezhen – a traditional design crafted with time-honoured techniques. The exquisite piece adorned with intricate hand-painted overglaze decorations symbolising blessings and prosperity will be offered to guests over the festive season.
Mr. Tan’s artwork for Jumeirah is also used to design red envelopes and Chinese New Year gift boxes with luggage tags available at select properties in Dubai, China, and the Maldives, as well as an animated projection of the inspiring “Golden Snake” on the iconic façade of Jumeirah Burj Al Arab from 28 to 30 January, sending heartfelt blessings to Jumeirah’s guests and welcoming the prosperous Year of the Snake. Finally, guests can have the chance to win the art inspired gifts through engagement with Jumeirah's Chinese social media accounts.
“Gold is a colour that symbolises prosperity and thriving energy. It is also a beloved hue in both Middle Eastern and Chinese traditional cultures. When creating this design, I contemplated how to blend the traditional image of a snake with modern elements, offering a fresh perspective to a traditional festival. Geometric shapes proved to be an ideal way to achieve this harmony,” said Master Tan.
The Art of Celebration at Jumeirah Guangzhou
At Jumeirah Guangzhou Hotel, Master Tan-designed red envelopes will be part of room amenities, welcoming guests with spa and dining vouchers and lucky draw tickets to win experiences at Jumeirah Guangzhou and Jumeirah Nanjing. Master Tan’s artwork also inspired a series of gift boxes filled with Cantonese New Year cakes, viral Dubai chocolate bars, lucky camel dolls, and festive beverages. Other special Year of the Snake touches will include a themed afternoon tea service accompanied by live guzheng and Chinese drums, a complimentary minibar in Deluxe rooms and more. Travellers with kids can opt for a convenient family package offering a choice of two connecting rooms or a family suite, daily lunch, and activities such as red envelope printing, candied hawthorn making, and a tea ceremony.
