A Journey Through Jumeirah Capri Palace

Slow living on Capri’s sunlit coast

Capri rises from the sea in layered terraces of sun-dappled stone, the air gently perfumed with lemon and salt. Groves and gardens hug the cliffs, their abundance hinting at something deeper than the island’s postcard beauty. As the boat nears the Blue Grotto, the landscape softens. Jumeirah Capri Palace comes into view, folded into the rock just above the tide, marking the beginning of a slower, more sensorial journey.

Design Shaped by Landscape
Interiors are marked by the vision of architect Patricia Urquiola, whose recent redesign brings a quiet sensuality to the newly unveiled Mariorita suites, and a renovated pool, terrace, and bar area. She works with the language of the island - undulating Cimento plaster walls that ripple like waves, handcrafted Vietri tiles, and Palladian floors that nod to Capri’s architectural heritage. In the new collection of five suites, each view is deliberate. Some open onto terraces with the wide blue sweep of the Bay of Naples, others draw the eye inland, toward the rugged slopes of Mount Solaro. Urquiola’s palette is borrowed from the landscape itself - soft whites, warm terracottas, and vivid blues - while her textures echo tide-worn stone. Even the furniture seems shaped by nature, with sofas that curve like water-smoothed rock and tables that feel carved by time.

The reimagined pool and bar terrace, also envisioned by Urquiola, is framed by a Caprese garden where rattan seating and glazed terracotta meet beneath olive trees. Ceramic-clad columns and custom marble furnishings pay quiet homage to local craftsmanship. From the Il Bar degli Artisti, lined with bold contemporary works, to the newly landscaped lounge terrace, each space invites you to sit a little longer.

A Living Collection
Art here is not framed and forgotten, but part of the atmosphere.  This is beautifully showcased in the hotel’s ever-evolving in-house collection. Masterpieces by celebrated artists such as De Chirico, Plessi, Haring, Jones, and many others subtly spill across corridors, lounges, and terraces, seamlessly blending with the architecture. Some pieces were created especially for the hotel spaces, like the monumental work by Pomodoro, which tells a site-specific artistic story.

New additions include Maurizio Galimberti’s signature Polaroid mosaics, which fragment and recompose familiar corners of the hotel into layered reflections of place and memory. Also joining is a graphite-on-paper piece by Serse, a meditative study of still water, inviting guests to pause and reflect amid the day’s flow.

Curated annually in collaboration with Galleria Continua, this year’s selection features works by Michelangelo Pistoletto, Loris Cecchini, and Pascale Marthine Tayou, Nari Ward, and Giovanni Ozzola - each exploring the transformative power of light and how it reshapes our perception of space.

Wellness, Reimagined
Tucked beneath the slopes of Mount Solaro, wellness at Capri Medical Spa begins with the body, but extends far beyond. Under the direction of dermatologist Dr. Chantal Sciuto, the spa introduces a renewed vision of wellness, grounded in regenerative medicine. Non-invasive treatments are designed to stimulate the skin’s natural vitality, requiring no downtime and allowing guests to return seamlessly to the rhythm of island life.

At the heart of the experience is the Leg School® - a renowned therapy developed to improve circulation, reduce fluid retention, and visibly target cellulite through a combination of therapeutic mud, cold bandages, and hydrotherapy. The results are tangible, yet the process feels restorative, rather than corrective.

New collaborations bring further dimension. Professor Gorizio Pieretti lends his expertise in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, while Dr. Maria Giovanna Vastarella provides tailored care in dermatology and hair health. Each treatment is considered, precise, and integrated into a broader sense of well-being, one shaped not by trend, but by intuition.

Flavours of the Island
Influenced by the tides, the time of year, and a deep respect for tradition, dining at Jumeirah Capri Palace captures the essence of the island. At L’Olivo, Capri’s only two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Executive Chef Salvatore Elefante joins forces with world-renowned French pâtissier Pierre Hermé to present an exclusive dessert menu. From reimagined classics to Capri-inspired creations, each dish is a celebration of precision and pleasure, served against a backdrop of the Mediterranean.

For something more relaxed, a-Ma-Re Capri brings Franco Pepe’s acclaimed pizzas to a breezy terrace above the water. The setting is informal, the ingredients exacting, local tomatoes, handmade dough, and wood-fired warmth paired with the island’s endless horizon.

Further along the coast, Il Riccio remains a Caprese landmark. Just steps from the Blue Grotto, the restaurant once again plays host to the Dioriviera pop-up, marking a renewed creative partnership between Dior and Il Riccio. The space is dressed in delicate Toile de Jouy and soft pastels, while the boutique reveals a refreshed capsule collection of beachwear, sandals, and sunglasses, inspired by the island’s film-set glamour. New animal statues in Dior’s Toile de Jouy add a playful, design-led touch to the beach club. It’s a union of fashion and flavour - where sea urchins and grilled catch of the day arrive with little ceremony, just as they should: fresh, elemental, and unforgettable.

The Island Beyond
Days unfold at your own pace. For those drawn to movement, a path leads from the hotel to the summit of Monte Solaro, where the island stretches out beneath open skies and limestone cliffs. For something more languid, a traditional gozzo boat offers another perspective, gliding past quiet coves and sea-carved arches, drifting toward the luminous mouth of the Blue Grotto. Along the way, swimming spots appear like secrets, and time begins to stretch.

Back on land, the hotel team can curate experiences shaped by the island’s cultural rhythm. From visits to Villa San Michele and the majolica floors of San Michele Church to guided art walks and tastings in quiet olive groves, Capri’s layers reveal themselves not all at once, but gently, one pause, one view, one encounter at a time.

Capri doesn’t rush to reveal itself, and neither does Jumeirah Capri Palace. It’s a place to arrive slowly, to stay lightly, and to leave with more than you came for. From art and design to food, wellness, and the rhythm of the island, every part of the experience finds its place.

Plan your summer escape to Jumeirah Capri Palace and experience Capri at its most serene.
