The photographic memory of Maurizio Galimberti
The publishing proposal of Jumeirah Capri Palace begins with the first volume of the “quaderni dell'arte” dedicated to the photographic work of Maurizio Galimberti. Not only a tribute to the Maestro, but also to Capri: the island through Galimberti's “gaze” is revealed in a different light. Each page leads the reader to discover the area in its most intimate and authentic aspects. Each photograph is not to be admired, but to be lived.
The artist's historical experience on the island has led him to collect a copious number of unpublished images that bear witness to a suspended yet almost secret time. The precious testimonies of Galimberti's lens narrate the poetic soul of Capri.
In six chapters, the artist takes us by the hand as we cross the island and let ourselves be enveloped by each of its facets: from the soft waves of the cherubic sea to the silent alleyways to walk along, from the colours and trades of tradition to local tastes, from the typical nature of the Mediterranean maquis to the personalities who have landed on the island to live off the effervescence, culture and encounters that have written history.
Capri is an infinite journey where the dolce vita and the slow life combine: two aspects of the same soul, captured by Galimberti with acute and precious “glances”.
A visual narrative that becomes collective memory, capable of conveying to the reader the emotion of an island that never ceases to reveal itself.
