Revolutionising the way that children eat on holiday is an integral part of the Jumeirah Group’s latest culinary-focused project, FoodieKiDs. Following an extensive global study, FoodieKiDs is our dining concept which has been developed in response to parents calling for more hotels and restaurants to provide children with more nutritious and wholesome menu options for when they’re on holiday or eating out.

Dining is one of the most important guest experiences at Jumeirah, so we’ve spoken to more than 5,500 parents in six different countries to find out exactly what we can do to help ensure our younger diners are eating well while away from their normal routines. According to the research, parents feel that the standard hotel kids’ menu is unimaginative and unappetising, with a lack of variety when it comes to healthier dishes. Headed up by Jumeirah’s Chief Culinary Officer, Michael Ellis, and an expert team of leading Jumeirah chefs, we’ve responded to this global need with FoodieKiDs – a brand-new and innovative child-friendly menu that will take little foodies far beyond the standard staples of chicken nuggets, chips and ice cream.

Ensuring an elevated culinary experience for every single member of the family, our brand new children’s menu has been designed to combine the perfect amount of parental insight with a taste-tested seal of approval. An open kitchen during the creation period meant that we could bring children into our developmental processes, so we can be sure that this new menu only includes dishes that have been specifically endorsed by our younger target market.

Prior to rolling out the menu across all of the Jumeirah hotels, the FoodieKiDs initiative will first launch at our Dubai-based Jumeirah Beach Hotel in mid-October. Pairing nutritious and wholemeal ingredients with a fun touch of imagination and creativity, our children’s starters will include mozzarella pops, alphabet soup and veggie sticks and dips, and there’s even a ‘make your own’ chef’s salad which comes with its own set of mix-in ingredients. Delicious yet nutritious mains will focus on mini roasts, rigatoni bolognese and seaside classics like fish and chips, while sweet treats will include creative reimaginations of world-loved puddings like cookies & cream, a ‘mess me up’ eton mess and even a fruity watermelon take on a good old classic pizza.
