1. A hotel with history

It’s 1961. The Royal Shakespeare Company is established; Diana, the future Princess of Wales is born and The Carlton Tower – London’s tallest hotel – opens. Designed by architect Michael Rosenauer and built from Portland stone, it opened six months ahead of schedule. The hotel attracted prime ministers and singers such as Michael Jackson and Madonna. The building was renamed The Carlton Tower Jumeirah in 2001, and to honour our 50th anniversary, we published All That Life Can Afford by Clive Aslet.

2. Location, location, location

Set in the heart of Knightsbridge – London’s most exclusive shopping district – we count Chanel, Dior and Gucci as neighbours and are close to Harrods’ department store. We’re also a stroll away from four Royal Parks: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Green Park and St James’s Park. Eighty seven of our rooms and suites have balconies with sweeping views across west London.

3. A light and bright renovation

Always one step of the game, our renovation introduced more light, space and timeless décor to our 98 bedrooms and 88 suites, each of which have floor-to-ceiling marble bathrooms. You can also help yourself to a bespoke mini bar. Our new, three-bedroom Royal Suite is our most exclusive residence. Choose it for a special treat and you have the option to privatise the whole floor. Visa holders can enjoy 20% off our best available rate when booking a room and 25% off suites.

4. Swim in the sunshine

A conservatory ceiling floods our 20m pool with natural light, creating the sensation that you’re outside. Once you’ve finished your swim, soak in a Jacuzzi, unwind in steam rooms and saunas and relax on Minotti furniture in our poolside cabanas. The Peak Fitness Club & Spa is also home to Technogym equipment and a studio for yoga, Pilates and dance classes.

Spa Talise

All that glitters is gold, especially when you opt for a gold hydralifting facial with rose quartz. Talise Spa is London’s only spa to partner with the skincare brand Omorovicza, named after founders Stephen and Magaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza. The 90-minute treatment begins with the application of mud sourced from Hungarian moors, followed by a rose scented gold mask saturated with hyaluronic acid to nourish the skin. Gold shimmer oil adds a subtle sparkle to your arms and neck. Afterwards you can unwind in our relaxation area.

6. Ace your tennis game

How many hotels in the centre of a global city can say they have a tennis court? We don’t like to boast but we have two, which guests and members have access to. The Wimbledon Championships might be just once a year but nothing is stopping you from practising your backhands in the private Cadogan Gardens, which are home to two all-weather Macadam courts.

7. The world’s best pastries

A protégé of the Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse, Jessica Prealpato was named world's best pastry chef in 2019. Jessica designed our new afternoon tea, A Tribute to Nature: Inspired by Kew Gardens, which is scattered with petals and served in a birdcage. After a duck egg and black truffle croissant and a sandwich filled with H Forman & Sons’ smoked salmon and garlic crème fraîche, cleanse your palate with a herbal sorbet before trying nettle and charcoal scones. But it’s the sweets you’ve come for, so nibble on a chestnut Madeleine cake, a honey pastry with strawberries and lemon basil pesto, and a choux pastry flavoured with barbecued lemon paste, hazelnut praline and crème brûlée mousse, accompanied by bubbles or tea.

8. Cake o’clock at The Chinoiserie

Feeling peckish mid-morning, or you’d prefer a light meal instead of dinner? Then sink into our gold and navy velvet sofas in The Chinoiserie, where it’s cake-o’clock all day long. That’s right – afternoon tea is served from morning till night in our all-day dining lounge and cocktail bar, which is accessed from the lobby.

9. Mediterranean meals at Al Mare

One thing we can’t offer is a seaside location, but Al Mare – Italian for ‘at the sea’ can certainly give you a taste for Mediterranean cuisine. Sophisticated yet informal, Al Mare serves saffron and tuna arancini, beef carpaccio and seabass with artichokes at well-spaced tables in a private dining room, a main room overlooking our open kitchen or al fresco. Our tip? Pair your meal with a glass of red – our menu won Europe’s best new wine list in The World of Fine Wine’s World’s Best Wine Lists Awards 2021.

10 Meeting spaces that wow

Hosting a special event? Impress your guests by holding it in the meeting space on our first floor, which has a ballroom with seating for 300. It can be reached from the hotel’s main entrance or via a grand staircase with a cascading chandelier. Three additional conservatory meeting rooms, all flooded with sunlight, overlook Cadogan Gardens.
