Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah celebrates success at Horizon Interactive Awards

Istanbul, 28 April 2016: Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah, Istanbul’s most iconic hotel, has won an award for the “Best Interactive Social Media Project” at the Horizon Interactive Awards in Indianapolis, USA.

Inspired by Agatha Christie, who is said to have penned 'Murder on the Orient Express' in room 411 of the hotel, an application called ‘A Pera Palace Detective Story’ was uploaded to the hotel’s Facebook page. The app was also designed to mark Christie’s 125th birthday.

Detective story enthusiasts were then invited to help shape the murder mystery by choosing the events and outcome - the app reached 610K people on social media.

In the story, the main character, a French detective called Pierre, visited Istanbul to solve a murder mystery. Each week, two episodes were posted on the hotel’s Facebook page and the outcome of the episode was voted by the public. The next part of the story continued according to the plot which received the most votes.

The judging panel of the awards comprised digital gurus from all over the world and they evaluated 1100 projects from 21 countries. Categories included: interactive media, mobile applications, web sites, printed works, advergame and video.

The video of the application can be watched from this link.
