Ron Hilvert, head of the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, wins EuroCHRIE President’s Award
Dubai, 20 October 2015: Ron Hilvert, Managing Director of The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), one of the world’s leading hospitality business management schools and an integral part of the global luxury hotel company Jumeirah Group, has won the EuroCHRIE President’s award.
EuroCHRIE (European Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education) is the academic body of the hospitality and tourism industry and the President’s award is the highest individual recognition a member can receive. It is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to hospitality education and the EuroCHRIE Federation.
Ron Hilvert is the Founder and Managing Director of EAHM and a graduate of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. He said: “I am humbled by this award and would like to thank the EuroCHRIE Board for their vote of confidence. I must thank my team at EAHM who have been so instrumental in bringing our college to where it is today.”
He was previously Global Vice President Human Resources for Hyatt and Hilton International where he recruited hotel school graduates worldwide; he went on to develop and manage the corporate management training programmes for Hyatt, Hilton, TrustHouse Forte and Jumeirah Group.
Ron Hilvert was the first Chief Human Resource Officer for Jumeirah Group and subsequently spearheaded the launch of The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in 2001. Ron put together a winning formula with EAHM when he combined the academic association of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne with Jumeirah. Since then, more than 1,000 students have graduated and found careers in top tier hotel companies and related organisations.
EuroCHRIE represents almost 200 member institutions from more than 60 countries in Europe, the Mediterranean Basin and Africa. EuroCHRIE is a Federation of International CHRIE, the leading international organisation that supports education and training for the hospitality and tourism industry. Founded in 1946, CHRIE brings together educators from hospitality and tourism management schools and universities into a global network in close co-operation with industry representatives.
