Dubai, 15 June 2015: Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based hotel company and member of Dubai Holding, is celebrating success at two prestigious award ceremonies.
At the Caterer Middle East Awards which honour the finest food and beverage professionals in the region, Mircea Anca Bogdan from Burj Al Arab Jumeirah won the “Sommelier of the Year” and Jumeirah Hospitality at Madinat Jumeirah, won the “Events Catering Team of the Year.”
At the Middle East Hotel Awards 2015, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel won accolades for the Best Lobby/Lounge and Best Community Engagement/Community Social Responsibility (CSR) project.
Alison Broadhead, Chief Commercial Officer, Jumeirah Group, said: "We are extremely proud to have been recognised with awards at two prestigious ceremonies. The accolades are a wonderful achievement for our hotels in Dubai and demonstrate our colleagues’ commitment to providing excellent service and experiences for our guests."
Mircea Anca Bogdan, who works at Burj Al Arab’s fine-dining seafood restaurant, Al Mahara, scooped the “Sommelier of the Year” award after demonstrating his natural passion and flair for the profession. Jumeirah Hospitality at Madinat Jumeirah, won the “Events Catering Team of the Year,” award after providing exceptional food and service at some of the UAE’s most distinguished events including the Dubai World Cup.
Now in its fifth year, the Middle East Hotel Awards hosted over 400 hoteliers across the Middle East who gathered to witness the results. For the third year in a row Jumeirah Creekside Hotel received the Best Lobby/Lounge award. One of the central features within the hotel’s lobby and public spaces is its collection of Middle Eastern art. The collection was commissioned by Dubai Duty Free and was curated by l’Atelier Camelia in Dubai. It comprises 482 works by 51 contemporary artists and it is the first time in the world that a collection from the Middle East has been built and assembled specifically in a hotel. The second award for “Best Community Engagement/Community Social Responsibility (CSR)” project was won for the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and support for Manzil, a non-profit education centre for children and young adults with special needs. To ensure minimal impact on the planet, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel has solar panels installed for the hot water system, a grey water facility and recycles waste. The management and staff also contribute to supporting local groups, such as Manzil, in line with the hotel’s corporate and social responsibility strategy. The hotel provides hospitality training, hosts activities throughout the year, mentoring programmes and vocational training for students of local schools and The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management.
