Jumeirah Creekside Hotel receives award for supporting Manzil Centre for Special Needs
Dubai, 07 May 2015: Jumeirah Creekside Hotel has won an award for its active role in supporting children from the Manzil Centre for Special Needs in Sharjah.
The hotel was presented with the ‘Outstanding Institutional Supporter’ award in the Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence category by the Princess Haya Award for Special Education (PHASE.)
Charles E. M. Clark, General Manager of Jumeirah Creekside Hotel said: “We are extremely honoured to receive such an important award which recognises our continued dedication and commitment to the community. Our team at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel is committed making the world a better place.”
PHASE is the first initiative of its kind in the region and rewards role models in the special needs sector. There are a number of different categories according to high international standards. The award ceremony was held at Madinat Jumeirah under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Since opening in 2012, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel has formed a close relationship with Manzil Centre, a non-profit education centre for children and young adults with special needs.
Over the last two years, the hotel has worked on a range of projects and programmes with Manzil, a key programme - PRIDE, which aims to provide young adults with special needs the necessary skills for mainstream employment. Projects have included cooking classes run by hotel chefs at Manzil which aim to teach students skills in planning, shopping, following instructions and cooking. Art exhibitions have also been held enabling students’ creative art pieces to be displayed in the hotel to help raise funds for the centre.
The recent employment of a graduate from Manzil Centre, has brought diversification to the team, reinforcing what the hotel teaches the colleagues about corporate social responsibility.
Jumeirah Creekside Hotel continues to find ways to present the centre and students to the mainstream community in order to promote the goal of inclusion.
