Jumeirah lights up blue to support Autism Awareness month

Dubai, 01 April 2014: Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hotel company and member of Dubai Holding, is showing its support for National Autism Awareness month at hotels and resorts around the world.

In order to highlight the growing need for concern and awareness of the condition, Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in Dubai and Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa in Kuwait took part in the global concept ‘Light it up Blue’, turning the exteriors blue in support of Autism Awareness month.

This global initiative is led by US-based organisation ‘Autism Speaks’, a non-profit company that promotes research and awareness on autism. Many landmarks around the world, hotels, sports venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are also set to take part.

Earlier in the week, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel hosted children from the Manzil Special Needs Centre, Sharjah. They attended the hotel for a specially adapted movie screening of Gulliver’s Travels. Jumeirah Beach Hotel will host a gala dinner to show support for World Autism Awareness Day on Wednesday 2 April in the events arena for over 120 guests. This was organised by Child Early Intervention as part of the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative and in addition to “Light it up Blue.” Another event for autistic children is scheduled for 27 April when the hotel will host children for activities and games.

Madinat Jumeirah will support Autism Awareness month with blue flower arrangements and will serve blue desserts in both the Mina A’Salam and Al Qasr lobbies.

In London, Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living will turn the large light in the Atrium blue for the day.
