China, 28 September 2014: Chinese publication Voyage magazine recently hosted the famous Chinese actress Zhou Xun, along with her friend and respected Chinese artist Chang Qing, for an ‘Art Dialogue’ in Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living, London.
With a central location on Park Lane in the heart of Mayfair, offers the perfect base from which to explore London’s best-kept art secrets. Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living ensured a number of wonderful art related experiences during their stay, including a visit to Halcyon Gallery. “I was very happy to stay at Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living. It is adjacent to Hyde Park.” said Ms Zhou Xun. “I thought it was an intimate property with a fantastic location and a beautiful view of London.”
Mark Humphrey, Artist in Residence at Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living, showed Zhou Xun and Chang Qing around the atrium and penthouses of Grosvenor House Apartments. During the tour he discussed his featured work, including Cone of Flame (a towering amber, onyx and Belgian black marble lamp), Diamond Seat (a rock crystal and Belgian black marble glowing bench) and the stately inter-locking Diamonds for her Cocktail (illuminated side tables). Each of the carefully chosen pieces enhances and complements the striking and stylish design of Grosvenor House Apartments.
Guests of the hotel can also explore London’s art throughout the surrounding Mayfair neighbourhood. With some of London’s best art galleries on the doorstep, Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living has launched three art maps, each dedicated to a different type of art. Whether the ‘Masterpieces’ map, ‘Contemporary Lovers’ map or
‘Art in the City’ map, each provides a fun, illustrative summary of galleries, sculptures and art-focused restaurants. Zhou Xun and Chang Qing travelled to the Halcyon Gallery following the “Masterpiece” art map. With their private guide Paul Green, President of Halcyon Gallery, Zhou and Chang enjoyed the fine art of Dale Chihuly, Ernesto Canovas and many other artists.
They had a free flowing discussion on the historical and cultural background behind the works. Zhou and Chang then returned to the Grosvenor Penthouse at Grosvenor House Apartments to enjoy English afternoon tea, and discuss the art-related encounters they had experienced during their stay.
Since the 2012 Olympic Games, London has been receiving increased attention from Chinese travellers. According to Visit London, the city received more than 100,000 Chinese tourists in 2013.
