Jumeirah Vittaveli welcomes Chef Hu Zhu Yong to celebrate Chinese New Year

Maldives, 25th January 2013: Jumeirah Vittaveli will celebrate the Chinese New Year by welcoming Chef Hu Zhu Yong from its sister property – Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel, Shanghai. He will be showcasing his culinary talents throughout the resort’s three outlets between 7th – 14th February 2013.

Shang-High Cuisine Chef Hu Zhu Yong has over 18-years experience. He trained in Chinese Culinary School, receiving the title of ‘The National Senior Culinary Chef’. A specialist in regional Chinese cooking, Chef Hu also expresses his creativity through a series of dishes that marry typically Western delicacies with Chinese cooking methods to create exciting new taste sensations, all with an emphasis on quality and healthy eating. Prior to joining Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai, Hu served at Park Hyatt Shanghai and at The Yongfoo Elite Club, one of the top private clubs in Shanghai. Among the many high-level diplomats and celebrities Hu has cooked for are Hollywood movie actor Tom Cruise and Italian Fashion Designer Georgio Armani. Chef Hu’s restaurant at Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel, Shang-High Cuisine, was awarded Best Chinese Restaurant by TimeOut Shanghai magazine in 2012.

Jumeirah Vittaveli is located in the South Male Atoll of the Maldives – a twenty minute speedboat transfer from Male International Airport. Nestled in a spot of outstanding beauty, the resort comprises 89 villas and suites, each offering exquisite views of the Indian Ocean. With three restaurants, a Talise Spa and separate clubs for younger children and for teenagers, the resort is ideal for couples, families or groups.
