Jumeirah goes pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness
Dubai, September 29 2013: Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hotel company and a member of Dubai Holding, is once again showing its support for Breast Cancer Awareness during October by turning hotels pink and organising a host of special activities globally.
Jumeirah’s most noticeable form of support is lighting up the façades of several properties. In Dubai, the World’s Most Luxurious Hotel, the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, the Jumeirah Living World Trade Centre Residences and Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi will all turn pink. Around the globe, Grosvenor House Apartments in London, Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel in Shanghai, Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa in Mallorca and Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah in Istanbul will also light up their properties in support.
The Burj Al Arab will offer a pink themed afternoon tea, pastries, drinks and 100,000 pink roses will be flown in for special floral displays. The hotel has teamed up with Pink Caravan to provide free voluntary medical examinations for the 1,600 staff and guidance on self-examination.
In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Talise Spas in Dubai will jointly participate in an awareness day on October 24th. All Spas will provide guests with a complimentary consultation with Dr Elizabeth Makk located at Talise Madinat Jumeirah. Each spa willl provide bespoke pink spa treatments in conjunction with Shiffa Dubai Skin Care and each will donate to Breast Cancer Arabia at Dubai’s Big Pink Ball.
Talise Fitness at Jumeirah Emirates Towers will be fitted with pink lights and host awareness activities including a fitness challenge where 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charities, namely Red Crescent and Pink Caravan. Both members and non-members can take part and participants who complete the cardio based challenge will be entered into a draw to win some amazing prizes including Estee Lauder gift hampers, hotel stays, gym memberships, meals for two and spa treatments. On Tuesdays, gym users wearing pink will receive a guest pass for friends while non-members can enjoy complimentary gym access during the day. Talise Spa at Jumeirah Emirates Towers will offer a 50% discount on certain treatments when wearing pink if “Breast Cancer Awareness” is stated during the booking.
Other promotions across the hotels, including properties at Madinat Jumeirah, will include pink cupcakes, cookies, afternoon teas and a welcome pink drink at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel. The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management will run a pink theme in the student restaurant for the month of October, sell pink cupcakes, ribbons and wristbands to raise money for a charity in Dubai.
In London, donations from afternoon teas will be made to breast cancer charities from Chinoiserie at Jumeirah Carlton Tower and Lowndes Bar & Kitchen at Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel.
In Shanghai, Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel launch the first Pink Yoga event with revenues donated to Breast Cancer research and cure. Pink drinks and cookies will be served and a percentage will be donated to the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
