Dubai, 07 April 2013: 200 runners ascended 52 floors of the Office Tower at Jumeirah Emirates Towers in the 11th annual Vertical Marathon event. Participants and supporters of the event raised a total of AED 151,332.50 for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), bringing the total amount raised for MSF in the past 10 years to over AED 1,320,000.
The fastest vertical marathon runner, Gorge Heimann from Germany, reached the top of the 350 metre Office Tower in 8 minutes and 9 seconds. The winning female, Martha Rise, from Norway, defended her title from last year to win in a time of 9 minutes and 55 seconds. The fastest team was the Wild Wadi team, who completed the stair climb in an average time of 9 minutes and 5 seconds.
Prizes included hotel stays at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, meals in some of its 5 star restaurants, Talise Spa treatments as well as day passes to Wild Wadi Waterpark.
The popular charity event was organised by MSF with the support of Talise Fitness, Jumeirah Emirates Towers and the Red Crescent Society and MSF.
