London, 14 February 2012: Jumeirah Carlton Tower and Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel are delighted to announce their support of The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt. Each property will house one of the most talked-about eggs, one decorated by Sophie Conran and one decorated by Rhea Thierstein. Both hotels will launch specially created Eggs menus for the duration of The Big Egg Hunt with adonation from each dish sold going to Action for Children and Elephant Family.
English interior designer, cook and writer Sophie Conran has decorated an egg for display at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Knightsbridge. The daughter of designer and restaurateur Sir Terence Conran and food writer Caroline Conran wanted her egg to embody the softness and beauty of the English countryside and blend that with the joy, colour and vibrancy of the tropics, taking inspiration from the first Spring in Eden. Rather fittingly, the egg will be positioned in front of the hotel overlooking the beautiful private gardens of Cadogan Place. In celebration, the following Egg dishes will be on the menu for lunch and dinner at the five-star luxury hotel’s restaurants:
The Rib Room Bar & Restaurant
- Glazed lobster omelette thermidor £22
- Toasted brioche, fried duck egg, seared foie gras £20
- One hour cooked hen’s egg with baby leeks and wild mushrooms £16
- Omelette Arnold Bennett £15
- Toasted crumpets with Loch Fyne smoked salmon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce£18
- Snow eggs with caramel sauce, pistachios and vanilla anglaise £9.50
Derek Picot, General Manager at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, says: “The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt is a great way to get Londoners and visitors to discover new artists and works by their favourite designers. Our Brand promise at Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts is to be culturally connected, generous and imaginative, – our support of The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt allows us to simultaneously support our pledge and two important charities. We hope that we also brighten the day of our guests and local residents”.
Sophie Conran says: “I am thrilled that my egg is in such a fantastic and prestigious location. I think Jumeirah Carlton Tower is a very fitting home for the egg and I hope it will make people feel uplifted and perhaps smile a little.”
Around the corner in fashionable Belgravia, the boutique Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel will play host to hot-to-trot set designer of the minute Rhea Thierstein’s decorated egg. Rhea has been creating sets, costumes and props for brands such as Mulberry, Bombay Sapphire, Vogue, Vanity Fair etc. As well as being involved in stills projects she has also created a window for Selfridges and art directed the Price Tag music video for award-winning artist, Jessie J.
Rhea’s egg takes inspiration from the destruction of the environment. The little Blue Tit, Caeruleus, is the element of optimism. The hope is that through sensitivity and awareness we can nurture our habitat and environment back to health.
In celebration, the popular neighbourhood restaurant Lowndes Bar & Kitchen (located at Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel) is serving up the below Eggs menu:
- Eggs Royale - toasted English muffin with Scottish smoked salmon, poached eggs in bloodorange hollandaise sauce with salmon roe £13
- LBK Crepes - filled with scrambled eggs and covered in hollandaise sauce with meltedparmesan cheese and fresh parsley £13
Ian Richardson, General Manager at Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel says: “Easter is a fabulous time to be in London – the spring brings out the best in the city. Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel is proud to support these fantastic charities through The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt and we’re excited to be a part of something that will bring hours of entertainment and surprises to Londoners and visitors alike”.
Rhea Thierstein says “I am very excited about being involved with The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt. Boththe charities are very close to my heart. I recently visited Borneo and witnessed first-hand the alarming rate of the destruction of our environment and our natural world. I think it is fantastic that an event like this helps raise awareness in such an innovative, creative and fun way.” The eggs will be on display at Jumeirah Carlton Tower and Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel from 21February.
