Jumeirah dims down for Earth Hour 2011

Dubai, 24 March 2011: On Saturday 26th March 2011 at 20:30, Jumeirah will join the world in celebrating the annual ‘Earth Hour’ global event, with Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Emirates Towers and Madinat Jumeirah turning all external lightings and some internal lightings off for one hour. This symbolic gesture shows Jumeirah’s dedication to raising awareness on the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.

Earth Hour originally started in Sydney on 31st March 2007, when 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses turned off their lights for one hour. Many major cities, inspired by the collective effort, have since joined Earth Hour, making this a global movement. In 2008, Dubai became the first city in the Middle East to take part in the event and Jumeirah has been an active participant ever since, making it a company tradition.
