Jumeirah Group’s newest resort is now open in Abu Dhabi. Stay in Arabian style rooms, magnificent villas with private pools and explore the destination spa. Here's everything you need to know...
1. The resort draws inspiration from a historic desert village
So you can enjoy meandering around its luscious courtyards and walkways which allow for a sense of discovery. Water features and pools inspired by the natural falaj (water channel for irrigation) create a soothing energy, underlined by the constant sound of water.
2. The property sprawls over 22,000 sq m of tranquil desert
This spacious resort has a quintessential Arabian-style and comprises a destination Spa, villas with private pools, Arabian-style rooms, a pool, six restaurants and bars including Al Mabeet, a desert dining experience which captures the spirit of the past.
3. Activities for adventure seekers
If you can’t sit still, you can enjoy fat biking through the dunes, horse riding, desert treks, spectacular falcon shows every evening, archery and destination dining experiences.
4. The pool is extremely spacious
At 1000 sqm, the pool stretches out into the desert and expands into secluded inlets and coves. There’s even a pool bar with in-water seating so you can cool off with a cocktail without leaving the water.
5. The destination Talise Spa is incredible
Enjoy a sensory experience with 13 luxury treatment rooms and private terraces. Rejuvenation journeys include Turkish Hammams, snow caves, hot and cold plunge pools and crystal salt and cryo therapy rooms. There is also a dedicated yoga platform for those who wish to find their desert spirit.
6. Mouthwatering cuisine from around the world
The cuisine draws inspiration from Arabian flavours and rustic tastes of Italy and the Mediterranean. Romantic poolside dining can be enjoyed at Panache or at the remote desert camp Al Mabeet, inspired by Bedouin traditions and the legends of Arabia. Witness breathtaking sunsets from the rooftop bar as the glowing sun descends on the desert dunes.
7. There’s something for everyone
Discover a hive of gentle activity around the traditional courtyards and intimate spaces around the village square, bordered by the Resort’s restaurants and souk. Travelling with family? Check out the extensive kids’ club. And for meetings and incentives the resort provides a spectacular place to get away from the city with its conference and meeting facilities.
8.Location, location, location
The resort is just 40-minutes from Abu Dhabi downtown and 90-minutes from Burj Al Arab Jumeirah so it’s remote enough to provide escapism yet ideal for exploring. Nearby you can discover the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (30 mins drive) Trip Advisor’s 2nd favourite landmark in the world; Ferrari World, Yas Island (40 mins); the Louvre, Sa’adiyat Island (50 mins) and the garden city Al Ain (90 mins), a UNESCO World Heritage site.
9. Explore the surroundings
Al Wathba’s historical location and Emirati resonance is home to the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, an important cultural event. The two-month festival, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, gives visitors a glimpse into Emirati traditions. The Resort’s proximity to the Emirates International Endurance Village provides the ideal sanctuary for visiting the annual UAE Endurance World Cup, the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve, cycling tracks and fossilized dunes.
