24 Reasons To Plan A Winter Break In Dubai!
02 Sep 2018

The Weather in Dubai is fantastic

Dubai is the largest city in the United Arab Emirates and located on the Arabian Gulf so you can expect wall-to-wall sunshine all year round! In December (when much of Europe is under frost, snow and storms) the Dubai weather averages a perfect 26 deg c. This lends itself to a host of amazing outdoor activities. How about a morning learning to Stand Up Paddle Board, kayak, launch yourself down a zip line or even out of a plane on a sky dive?

Cool off in the waterparks

There are numerous waterparks in Dubai – families and couples will love visiting Wild Wadi Waterpark, one of the best waterparks in the city. Try the Burj Surj, the Tantrum Alley, Flood River, Flowrider or the Jumeirah Sceirah where you can hurtle down the 120m drop at up to 80km per hour. (That’s 5 reasons right there!)

If you’re after something more leisurely, take a lesson in sand art from Nathanial Alapide who is well known in Dubai for carving amazing images and replicas of famous paintings on a pristine private beach. He can show you the ropes and demonstrate just how he creates his stunning pieces of art. The children will also love the kids’ clubs and activities on offer – there’s plenty of places for them to let off steam.

Discover the Best Outdoor Activities

Another one of Dubai’s most popular tourist activities is to explore Dubai Creek on an Abra boat. While it’s not free, it may aswell be – for just a couple of Dirhams you can take a traditional abra boat across the Creek. This is also home to Al Seef – a lovely place to soak up the winter sun. Discover the charming walkways, marina, boulevard and dine by the promenade dotted with cafes and restaurants. Look out for Dubai’s traditional Middle Eastern restaurants such as the Syrian restaurant Al Hamidieh.

There’s fun for everyone at Dubai Parks and Resorts, Motiongate Dubai, Legoland Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai. A few more areas perfect for families to explore include Box Park, Bounce, Kite Beach and The Beach, JBR.

Relax in the spa

For some R&R, Dubai has some of the most amazing spas in the world and there’s no shortage of treatments on offer. From saltwater flotation pools, Turkish Hammans, couples’ suites, age-defying facials and detox retreats, there really is something for everyone. Yogis will love practicing their poses on the beach, which has to be the ultimate way to relax during your winter holiday. Classes take place across Dubai.

Al fresco dining

Winter is perfect for dining outdoors in Dubai and there are some stunning restaurants to try all over the city. A popular tourist activity is to take an abra tour of Madinat Jumeirah en-route to dinner at Pai Thai or one of the other iconic restaurants including Zheng He’s and Tortuga. Foodies can even book a special masterclass – why not learn how to cook the ultimate steak or Paella with a chef at The Hide or Al Hambra?

The Burj Al Arab Jumeirah

You might not know this, but you don’t have to stay at Burj Al Arab to experience the world’s most luxurious hotel. Make everyone back home envious and treat yourself to cocktails at Gold on 27 and take in the spectacular city views. The Burj Al Arab Terrace is incidentally one of the best beach clubs in Dubai. Relax in your own private cabana, dive into the infinity pool and admire the endless views of the Arabian Gulf. Cabana rates start from AED1,500 per day.

Afternoon tea

If you’re looking for an afternoon tea or high tea during your Dubai holiday then the city has hundreds to choose from. For a special treat, head to Al Muntaha and enjoy an inspiring three-course set menu. Take your seat at the table in the sky and enjoy first class food with an ambiance to match.
