15 Things You Didn’t Know About Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam
19 Sep 2018

Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam is one of four hotels within Madinat Jumeirah Resort, on a 2.5 kilometre private beach overlooking the Arabian Gulf and alongside the Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel.  In celebration of its 15th anniversary, here’s a list of 15 fascinating things to discover about this grand boutique hotel offering an authentic Arabian heritage experience with family-friendly services.

1. Inspired by Dubai Creek

The opening of Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam in September 2003 marked the debut of Madinat Jumeirah as it was the first of the Resort’s properties to open. Developer and architect, Mirage Mille, took 36 months to complete the hotel, with the vision of recreating life in ‘old Dubai’ in a luxury setting, complete with waterways, lagoons, abra boats and a souk.

2. ‘The Harbour of Peace’

Mina A’ Salam translates to ‘The Harbour of Peace’ in Arabic and the hotel’s sand-coloured wind towers, lagoons and waterways, pay homage to ancient Arabic fishing and sailing traditions. In the hotel’s opulent marble-clad lobby, seek the centrally located, petal-strewn water feature surrounding the Jumeirah ‘beacon’ (the logo of the Jumeirah Group of hotels and resorts) and don’t forget to look up to spot the ceiling mural of an ancient mariner’s map. At sunset, drift over to the hotel’s Al Samar Lounge adjacent to the lobby and savour a cup of Arabic coffee, accompanied by traditional dates, while watching the glorious spectacle of the sun slowly sinking into the horizon of the Arabian Gulf.

Staying in Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam means being in the centre of the pulsating heart of Madinat Jumeirah, with the entire Resort at your feet. Explore in comfort and culturally connected style via abra – traditional wooden boats sailing along the resort’swaterways.

3. Join The Club and Be Happy

Club access at Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam brings an exclusive world of privileges. Business travelers will appreciate the Club Executive Lounge, for guests 18 years old and above, designed for luxury, efficiency and productivity. Families can enjoy the Premium Leisure Club with exclusive check-in, reception and lounge, while youngsters can avail of a playroom and computer room. Both club lounges provide daily complimentary breakfasts, all-day beverages and afternoon teas from 3pm to 4:30pm. From 6pm to 8pm at the club lounges, drop by for ‘Happy Hour’ and fuel up for the evening ahead with a selection of pre-dinner drinks and canapes.

4. Stroll the Souk

All the attractions of Madinat Jumeirah, which include more than 50 restaurants and bars in its hotels, as well as the Madinat Theatre and the outdoor amphitheatre in the interconnected Souk, are best explored leisurely. Take the time to stroll around designer boutiques, art galleries and handicraft shops in the Souk, and get immersed in a traditional shopping experience
