Private Ocean Retreat Enhancement
All Ocean Suites will be converted into Private Ocean Retreats by December 2018. The new and enlarged Private Ocean Retreats will have an extended outdoor deck with sunken seating, a full open air daybed for romantic nights under the starry skies, overwater hammocks for blissful relaxation, a second bedroom downstairs with bathroom, and a private bar set-up inside the villa. A special highlight will be the new water slides, stretching from the balcony upstairs down into the crystal clear lagoon – a fun addition for couples and families alike! The Private Ocean Retreats have been designed to provide all services of the resort at your fingertips, including in-villa dining, yoga, spa treatments, live performances and more – you never need leave your overwater home if you don't wish to do so.
Water Villas Transformation
Our Water Villas are undergoing a full refurbishment this year, to be unveiled as our new Infinity Pool Ocean Villas. The new overwater villas will have an extended open air deck with sunken seating and outdoor sala, a fresh colour palette reflecting the warm Maldivian sunsets coupled with the sparkling turquoise lagoon, extended glass panels in the floor to observe the vibrant marine life, a private bar featuring a wide variety of beverages for guests to mix their favourite drinks in the comfort of their own villa, and a redesigned infinity pool. The villas will be outfitted with modern state-of-the-art technology or enhanced guest comfort, including motion controlled light and integrated touch panels. A portion of the new Infinity Pool Ocean Villas will boast a water slide - same as the new Private Ocean Retreats – designed for our more adventurous and fun loving guests, to experience a whole new way of entering into the enchanting Maldivian underwater world.
Fenesse Conversion, Opening of Cuvée Wine Library and Fumée Cigar Lounge
Fenesse, our French fine dining restaurant, is being converted into four distinctly separate spaces:
Fenesse will continue to serve French classic and contemporary cuisine. With an extended seating area on the open air balcony, it will offer views across the lagoon and free standing Private Ocean Retreats.
Cyan has been opened this summer - it stretches across several private terraces overlooking the lagoon. It serves beverages inspired by the Spice Route, together with ‘MediterrAsian’ delicacies from oysters to tapas to a selection of rare caviars. Open from afternoon until late, the mood is enhanced by DJ tunes.
Cuvée, the new wine library, has also been launched earlier this year - with glass walls that provide a panoramic view, it also doubles as space for private functions and degustation dinner. It boasts over 350 labels from select vineyards around the world including a number of unique bin-end wines.
Fumée is due to open soon - it will be our dedicated lounge for hand rolled Cuban cigars, trendy hookahs and fragrant vaping.
The new lounge and restaurant concepts have been inspired by the Spice and Silk Routes that connected Europe with Asia. The Silk Route designated the maritime journey from the Mediterranean Sea, in the West, all the way to the Korean peninsula and Japan. It was one of the most important trading routes that also culturally connected two continents that had been almost unknown to each other.
