Jumeirah Vittaveli in the Maldives uses in-house water bottling plants as part of an on-going commitment to reduce the carbon footprint in the resort.

By installing water bottling plants instead of shipping in pre-bottled water, the resort saves approximately 100,000 plastic bottles per year. This new water system is an important part of Jumeirah’s continued efforts to preserve the idyllic surroundings of the Maldives for future generations.

The resort has implemented a water filtration system called “The Eco Pure system” enabling seawater to be treated and made safe for drinking. Salt content and other impurities are separated from the water, while minerals are added. The final product is passed through a cooler and CO2 is added to create sparkling water, before being stored in recyclable glass bottles ready for consumption.
