The Arabian Horse

The Arabian Horse

On arrival at Al Qasr hotel, look out for eighteen beautiful sculpted Arabian horse statues. Their creator, the artist Dani de Jorge, sadly died before he could see his work in place. However, his wife Else de Jorge, also an accomplished artist, completed the work.

Cast in Pietre Santa in Italy, the horses are larger than life to emphasise their stature and imposing beauty. The Arabian horse has a history which is synonymous with the people of the UAE; for thousands of years, the fabled horse lived among the desert tribes of the Arabian Peninsula.

They were bred by the Bedouins as athletic and highly reliable horses for long treks and quick forays into enemy camps. In these harsh desert conditions this magnificent creature evolved an extraordinary large lung capacity and endurance characteristics.
