With its pristine sands and tempting Arabian waters, a holiday on an Abu Dhabi beach is quickly becoming a sought after experience in the UAE. Public beaches, like the Corniche, are ideal for family fun, while private beaches offer blissful isolation for couples.
Exploring Abu Dhabi beaches
The Corniche beach is Abu Dhabi’s centre of seaside fun, with wonderful views out over the Persian Gulf. The Corniche is an elegant long promenade that lines the city’s waterfront. With children’s play areas and dedicated cycle paths, it is where all of Abu Dhabi comes to relax. Corniche Beach has Blue Flag status, which means it meets high standards of water quality, safety and environmental awareness. The public beach is free to enter but, for an extra fee, beach-goers can enjoy dedicated areas for families and singles.
Saadiyat Island is another popular beach, home also to a seaside golf course. For something more secluded, opt for one of the emirate’s many private beaches. There are many remote islands off the coast of Abu Dhabi too – catch a boat to one of these remote islands and revel in the tranquillity they offer.
Watersports in Abu Dhabi
Warm and inviting waters mean swimming is very popular on Abu Dhabi beaches, but there are a range of water sports to choose from for holidaymakers in search of an adrenaline rush. Take a speedboat off the Corniche and marvel at the Abu Dhabi skyline from offshore, or go snorkelling to discover local marine life. Jet skis are also available for hire and offer a thrilling way to explore the beauty of the Persian Gulf.
