Shanghai has cemented its reputation as China’s business and finance capital after being voted as one of three global financial hubs for the third year in a row.

Along with New York and London, the prestigious Xinhua International Financial Center Development Index ranked Shanghai as one of the best places in the world for finance in 2022, 2021 and 2020.

And no wonder. The global financial hub is China’s largest city by population, and well connected to neighbouring South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. As well as being a headquarters for Chinese businesses such as Shanghai Airlines, multinational companies such as the Japanese electrical firm Toshiba and and the household appliance firm Dyson have put their trust in the metropolis, establishing regional headquarters in the city.

Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel is conveniently located opposite a major exhibition venue, Shanghai New International Expo Centre. We are also proud to offer a selection of our own meeting and conference rooms with beautiful interiors, and the latest technology and technical support to ensure your meeting or presentation is a success and leaves a lasting impression on your guests.

DaGuan Theatre

A showstopper of a venue, the 1,100-seat DaGuan Theatre forms part of the Himalayas Centre, a multi-function cultural complex comprising our hotel, malls and the Shanghai Himalayas Museum. Completed in 2013, the theatre was designed by the Japanese firm Arata Isozaki, the team behind Shanghai Symphony Hall, Kyoto Concert Hall in Japan and Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha. Built to celebrate national cultural achievements such as Chinese opera and the Shanghai International Film Festival, it also hosts all kinds of events. Ten detachable platforms with interchangeable seats can quickly be raised to create an expansive floor area, making the venue easily adaptable for conferences, exhibitions, catwalks and boxing matches. In addition to the main auditorium, the theatre has a terrace, cafe and lounges, as well as six dressing rooms for performers.

The Grand Ballroom

With a 12m-high ceiling – the highest in Shanghai – our Grand Ballroom is grand indeed, with a capacity for 800 people. Golden tones soften the warm wooden walls which surround the 810sqm column-free space. There’s also a 463sqm foyer for receptions and coffee breaks.
