A Letter from Michael Grieve

A reflection on Arabian hospitality, and the enriching experiences it inspires for Jumeirah One members.

There is something I find remarkable about Jumeirah’s story of hospitality: in truth, it began thousands of years ago, here on the Arabian Peninsula. Long before glittering skyscrapers and man-made islands, trade routes from east to west, and west to east, converged here, making it a meeting point between worlds.

And in those immense, often unforgiving landscapes, the promise of welcome carried a simple, deeply human meaning. It meant warmth. Shelter. A place to rest. It meant that, for a time, you would be received with generosity and without question. For it is in the bringing together of strangers, of stories, of shared moments, that something joyful is brought to life.

That same spirit continues to shape how we welcome our Jumeirah One guests. In recent weeks, while the region has navigated a period of change, we have remained focused on what matters most: caring for our guests, supporting our colleagues, and delivering the Jumeirah experience with consistency, generosity and care at the heart of everything we do.

As a global brand, our strength lies in the breadth of our portfolio. From Europe to Asia and across the Middle East, Jumeirah continues to welcome guests around the world, offering a familiar sense of comfort and connection, wherever you choose to travel with us.

Nowhere is this more evident than in The Curated Collection. Set across some of our most distinctive destinations, these bespoke, itinerary-led journeys nurture wellbeing and invite a slower way of living. From the turquoise archipelagos of the Maldives to the sacred cliffs of Bali, and here along Dubai’s own shores, each one offers a deeper connection to a place that guests can carry back into everyday life.

I think this spirit is expressed beautifully in a new Jumeirah Privé experience we are offering ahead of summer. Aboard the iconic 88-metre superyacht Maltese Falcon, guests are invited to explore the Mediterranean through a series of journeys across the region's most captivating coastal destinations, arriving at Jumeirah Capri Palace and Jumeirah Mallorca, both welcoming guests as the season begins. There is something particularly compelling, to me, about experiencing these places from the water, where each destination reveals itself gradually, shaped by light, coastline and perspective.

Sailing through these destinations from the water offers a different perspective, one that feels closely connected to Jumeirah's own story. The sea has long shaped who we are, nowhere more clearly than in Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, whose iconic silhouette draws inspiration from the sail of a traditional dhow. It is a building of profound significance, and I am proud to share that it is entering a new chapter through a carefully considered restoration, designed to preserve this icon for generations to come. Led by interior architect Tristan Auer, the programme reflects a deep respect for heritage and craft, ensuring its legacy endures, not only for Jumeirah, but for Dubai itself.

It is this enduring connection with the sea that makes our partnership with the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team a natural fit. Bringing together two world-class brands, it reflects a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and ocean stewardship, while opening new ways to connect our guests with the energy of the sport across the season.

Looking to the months ahead, we look forward to sharing these journeys with our Jumeirah One members.  Each experience is shaped by the values of Arabian hospitality, where people and cultures come together, creating moments of connection that extend beyond the stay.
