This summer, our team at Jumeirah Carlton Tower has partnered with The Roald Dahl Story Company to inspire families and children to enrich their summer stay in London with imaginative books,  games and everlasting memories. Discover thoughtful touches inspired by the wonder of Roald Dahl’s timeless tales within our hotel, on your doorstep, and a little further afield. 

Curated by the hotel’s expert Guest Relations team, our rooms have been fantastically transformed with themed pillowcases, posters, bathrobes, games, and books for endless entertainment. Designed for children between the ages of 2 and 12, this truly bespoke experience nurtures a young love for reading and ensures cherished family memories for years to come. Children can delight in the mischievous antics of ‘The Twits’, the bravery of ‘Matilda’, and the concoctions of ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’, while younger ones can adventure with ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ and ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’. 

Beyond the hotel, the magic of Dahl’s tales leaps off the page in London’s atmospheric West End. Just a 20-minute drive away, the city’s theatrical heart invites exploration. Since its premiere in 2011, ‘Matilda the Musical’ has attracted audiences of all ages at the Cambridge Theatre in Covent Garden. Approach the theatre’s grand façade, where the glittering marquee illuminates the cobblestone streets, and step inside. For 2 hours and 40 minutes, dive into Matilda’s world, feeling her determination, Miss Honey’s warmth, and Miss Trunchbull’s downfall. You’ll be humming the lively songs long after the show ends. After discovering the area’s bustling markets and talented street performers, return to the hotel where the enchantment continues. 

For a truly immersive experience, the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden offers a playground for the imagination. Just outside London, little adventurers can lose themselves in Matilda’s library, brew magical potions in the George’s Marvellous Medicine room, and burrow through Fantastic Mr. Fox’s tunnels. The museum’s Story Centre invites young minds to run wild, crafting their own mischievous tales inspired by the delightfully dreadful Twits.
