Celebrating Chinese cuisine reimagined and transformed with modern flair at a stunning waterside restaurant
Born in the vibrant Malaysian city of Melaka, Chef Lai Min Wei has spent the past 30 years immersed in the culinary world. During this time, the talented chef has polished his expertise in the complex art of the Chinese cuisine, from the Ritz-Carlton in Kuala Lumpur in 1996, followed by nine years within the global Hakkasan franchise. Prior to joining Jumeirah Mina A’Salam as Executive Chinese Chef of Zheng He’s in July 2019, Chef Wei spent five years as Executive Chef at the famed Hakkasan in Doha, a journey which began in 2006 when he took on the role as Sous Chef at Hakkasan’s Michelin-starred flagship restaurant, Hanway Place in London. Today, as Jumeirah Mina A’Salam emerges as a formidable dining destination, Chef Wei will work alongside the hotel’s Executive Chef, Reiner Lupfer, Zheng He’s General Manager Sherif Fanous, and Jumeirah Group’s Chief Culinary Officer, Michael Ellis, to redefine the Zheng He’s experience.
