Jumeirah celebrates success in Caterer Middle East’s ‘Power List 50’

Dubai, 18 December 2013: Jumeirah Group, the Dubai based luxury hotel company and a member of Dubai Holding, is delighted to report that four Jumeirah colleagues have featured in the Caterer Middle East ‘Power List 50,’which ranks the region’s most influential and successful food and beverage (F&B) players.

The coveted number one spot was awarded to Jason Myers, General Manger, Food and Beverage Operations. With 20 years’ experience, Myers was placed at the top of the ‘Power 50’ for the significant changes made to Jumeirah’s restaurant and bar offerings.

In the article Myers talks about his passion for the company’s newest restaurants Alta Badia and Tortuga and Jumeirah’s future plans.

Gert Kopera, Senior Vice President, Food and Beverage, said: “We are delighted that four colleagues have been recognised in the Power 50 list. This reflects the high calibre of talent present throughout Jumeirah’s many food and beverage operations and also the consistent quality delivered on a daily basis to guests who visit our restaurants throughout the Middle East.”

Joining Myers in the list at number 10 is Michael Kitts, Director of Culinary Arts at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, Dubai. During a career that has spanned 40 years, Kitts has won numerous awards.  At the 2013 Pro Chef Middle East Fine Dining Awards this year he was rewarded for his outstanding contribution to the industry and for being someone who ‘inspires and leads the young.’

At number 29, Chris Lester, the British Executive Chef with Caprice Holdings lists his proudest moment as the opening of the seafood restaurant Scott’s that is part of Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi. He first joined the Burj Al Arab in June 2003, before leaving for Macau and returning to open The Rivington Grill in Dubai with Caprice Holdings in 2008. He looks forward to driving the current Caprice restaurants forward in conjunction with Jumeirah.

Andrea Strim, Executive Assistant Manager, F&B Jumeirah Emirates Towers joins the list at number 33.

Strim currently manages a team of 180 and 14 outlets at the hotel including The Rib Room which has featured in The Daily Meal’s ‘Best 101 Hotel Restaurants in the World’ for two consecutive years.
