Jumeirah Carlton Tower launches ‘Afternoon Tea by Eric Lanlard’

London, 26 March 2012: Jumeirah Carlton Tower has teamed up with master patissier and star of Channel 4’s Baking Mad series Eric Lanlard to design a new afternoon tea menu for the five-star hotel’s Chinoiserie restaurant (Cadogan Place, London SW1X 9PY; www.jumeirahcarltontower.com; tel: +44 (0)20 7235 1234).


As one of the world’s most renowned patissiers, Eric has baked wedding cakes for the likes of Madonna, Claudia Schiffer and Elizabeth Hurley and can count Prime Minister David Cameron, Elton John and Lady Gaga amongst his clients.

For Chinoiserie at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Eric has created “Rêve d'orient”, an enticing range of exquisitely presented sweet and savoury selections that will take customers on a culinary journey through the Orient and Middle East, via his native France.

Eric’s decadent menu, inspired by the flavours and aesthetic beauty encountered during his travels, includes delights such as pistachio financier with rose-flavoured cream and a duo of gourmet pop cones, one filled with dark chocolate ganache and Amarena cherries, the other filled with passion fruit ganache and chocolate popping candy. The journey continues with lemon tart with raspberries and confit lemon peel and a dark chocolate tier drop filled with chocolate mousse. The menu is sure to intrigue and satisfy any sweet-toothed aficionado.

Customers will be treated to a ‘Take Home Box’ on departure with a selection of small delicacies ensuring tea-lovers can take the enjoyment of this experience home with them.  Afternoon Tea by Eric Lanlard will be available at Chinoiserie at the five-star Jumeirah Carlton Tower throughout the year, with a new twist on the menu presented seasonally. Chinoiserie provides the perfect backdrop with its sophisticated, classic-contemporary décor.

Eric Lanlard, twice winner of the prestigious Continental Patissier of the Year at the British Baking Awards, has earned himself an international reputation for superlative cakes with an impressive A-list clientele and a global fan base. Eric is an experienced television chef and has presented and starred in two series of Glamour Puds for Channel 4 as well as fronting his own series, Baking Mad with Eric Lanlard, which is currently in its second series on Channel 4. Eric has also made numerous guest appearances on TV shows including Mary Portas Queen of Shops, Market Kitchen, Masterchef: The Professionals and Cookery School. Eric runs his own patisserie based in South West London, Cake Boy, which includes a stylish lounge and cookery school.
