Guests of the resort have access to a high altitude training room while children can go to their own gym
Dubai, 03 October 2011: Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding, has announced the launch of pioneering new health club facilities in Madinat Jumeirah – The Arabian Resort in Dubai.
High Altitude Suite
Through a careful control of air pressure and oxygen levels, the new state-of-the-art High Altitude Suite in the Quay Health Club can recreate conditions of altitudes reaching up to 4,500 metres. Users of the suite have access to a selection of exercise equipment including treadmills, rowing machines and weight-lifting equipment.
Also referred to as hypoxic training, high altitude training operates on the principle that as altitude increases, air pressure decreases and less oxygen is available for the human body. This can leads to a greater productivity of red blood cells and therefore improved heart health alongside numerous other health benefits such as better utilisation of nutrients within muscles and tissues and increased weight loss.
Quay Skillz Youth Facility
Young guests have access to the first youth health and fitness facility in the United Arab Emirates, designed to engage young people between 7 and 16 years of age in sports science and physical activity.
The concept has been developed by an international team of sports science experts, supported by a worldwide network of pioneering companies fighting against global obesity. Quay Skillz uses a wide selection of ergonomically designed, cutting-edge equipment that are combined with a highly personalised and fun approach to exercise, delivered by a team of school teachers, sports science experts and athletes.
Quay Skillz is open daily with timetabled group activities, fitness and sport classes. The club also offers personal training sessions alongside rapid progression courses that offer elite sports specific programme packages.
With the addition of a new High Altitude Suite, the children’s fitness centre and an outdoor climbing centre, Quay Healthclub offers guests staying in Madinat Jumeirah a diverse range of health and fitness options that can be enjoyed as part of their stay or can be built into a specific programme to form the primary purpose of the visit, including a twelve day High Altitude Training Package.
