Jumeirah Group voted Best Overseas Hotel Group in The Guardian and Observer 2011 Travel Awards

London, October 6, 2011: Jumeirah, the Dubai-based luxury hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding, has been voted the Best Overseas Hotel in The Guardian and Observer 2011 Travel Awards.

The accolade, announced at The Guardian and Observer 2011 Travel Awards ceremony held in Tenerife (Spain), recognises Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts as the most luxurious and innovative in the world. The organisers of the award said: “This year's winner, Dubai-based hotel group Jumeirah, continues its quest for global domination with new five-star properties scheduled to open in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, the Maldives and Mallorca in the next 12 months.” The runners-up were Mandarin Oriental, Oberoi, Ritz-Carlton and Shangri-La.

Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman of Jumeirah Group, said: “This award is dedicated to our loyal guests around the world and to the many Jumeirah colleagues who have delivered our promise of STAY DIFFERENT to them in all our properties. From the super luxury of Burj Al Arab in Dubai to the urban glamour of Jumeirah Essex House in New York and the elegant sophistication of Jumeirah Frankfurt, Jumeirah remains committed to creating imaginative experiences and offering its unique blend of thoughtful and generous service. We are immensely proud to have been honoured in this way.”

In line with its ambitious growth plans, Jumeirah Group recently announced the opening of Jumeirah Frankfurt. This is the fourth Jumeirah hotel to open this year after Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai, Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel in Shanghai and Jumeirah Dhevanafushi in the Maldives.
