New York, April 26, 2011: New York City’s historic Jumeirah Essex House is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its sister property, London’s Jumeirah Carlton Tower, with a week of British-themed offerings and giveaways fit for royalty. From May 8-14th, locals and guests alike can experience the sights and sounds from across the pond with fabulous lobby displays, entertainment and English gastronomy at South Gate restaurant and the hotel’s Lobby Lounge. Upon arrival, guests will receive a regal greeting from a streetside vintage London taxi and traditional British beefeater standing guard, while the lobby will be transformed with authentic British regalia including a replica of Big Ben constructed out of pastry and an London-inspired red phone booth.
Lunch hour at South Gate will become “Pimm’s o’clock,” as the clocks are turned to London time for $15 signature cocktails, including the Bombay Sapphire London Club, GREY GOOSE Blushing Duchess and a Middleton Mimosa, modern-American twists on traditional British libations.

A special prix-fixe lunch of local British favorites, including Mushy Peas Done Right (flan of English peas, morels and prosciutto), Scottish Salmon (grilled salmon, spring onions, parsley-braised new potatoes and tarragon-mint dressing) and Strawberry Rhubarb “Wedding Cake” (lemon chiffon, angelica and Devon cream) will be available for just $24.07 from 11:45 a.m. through 2:00 p.m.
Guests who prefer to be pampered can indulge in the Queen for a Day package, available for $400 at The Spa at Jumeirah Essex House. Four hours of extreme pampering begins with a glass of champagne, followed by a personalized 30-minute body soak, customized for each guest’s needs. A 50-minute full body massage eases tension while a 60-minute facial rejuvenates skin, followed by a luxurious 90-minute manicure and pedicure session. Guests are lulled into an ultimate state of relaxation with unlimited steam room usage, where they can relish in their royal treatment.
