Fabulous at 50 Jumeirah Carlton Tower

A night of glamour hosted by the Jumeirah Carlton Tower.

On Monday 13 June, the world-renowned Jumeirah Carlton Tower hosted its ‘Fabulous At Fifty’ party in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

The night brought together both London’s bright young things and the original glamour pack who enjoyed the hotel when it first opened in 1961 for the ultimate evening of live entertainment and 60’s glamour.

The night’s lavish celebrations began on arrival when guests had the chance to gaze at an iconic Jaguar E Type on show outside the hotel’s entrance launched the same year as the hotel opened its doors.
The dazzling guest list was the talking point of the evening; John Cleese arrived with Jennifer Wade on his arm followed by a host of long standing celebrity fans of the hotel including Sir Stirling Moss OBE, Terry Venables, Susan Hampshire and Petronella Wyatt showing their support for the Knightsbridge landmark and partying the night away.

Clive Aslet was busy signing copies of his beautiful book, ‘All That Life Can Afford’, launched in honour of the occasion while celebrity chef Gary Rhodes sampled the delectable canapés created from award winning chef Simon Young and inspired by the infamous Rib Room restaurant.

Richard Stilgoe OBE of Radio 4, ‘Nationwide’ and ‘That’s Life’ entertained guests with his set based on memorable moments of the hotel’s 50 year history, and to round off the night the all girl band The Crystalets revived the infamous music scene of the 60’s bringing the house down with electric renditions of the hits ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’ and ‘The Chapel Of Love’.
