Sixties Knightsbridge Style

From 10 September until 20 November 2016, Jumeirah Carlton Tower is celebrating its 1960s heritage with a unique exhibition - 'Sixties Knightsbridge Style' - in collaboration with Harrods.

The Carlton Tower opened in 1961 as London’s first tower hotel and was the place to see and be seen in sixties Knightsbridge. Chelsea socialites flocked to the new Rib Room restaurant, international stars came to stay and fashion designers used the hotel as a backdrop for their shoots. Setting the scene in the 1960s, Harrods led the way on the luxury landscape by introducing colourful and contemporary collections for young customers in London, opening the fashion-forward Way In boutique in June 1967. 'Sixties Knightsbridge Style' will showcase just some of the photos taken in The Carlton Tower in the 1960s, alongside Way In advertising and original clothing from the Harrods archive collection.

Also available from 10 September until 20 November 2016, our Swinging Sixties Afternoon Tea will be served daily in Chinoiserie featuring a selecion of sixties inspired savouries and sweets. Meanwhile discover more about the era-defining significance and impact of the late 1960s upon life today with a visit to ‘You Say You Want A Revolution? Records and Rebels, 1966-1970’ at the nearby Victoria and Albert Museum until 26 February 2017. Book our tea and ticket package to enjoy the Swinging Sixties Afternoon tea, a glass of Laurent-Perrier Brut champagne and a ticket to the V&A exhibition (worth GBP 16) for GBP 55.
