Mark Humphrey - Artist in Residence
Mark Humphrey is the artist in residence at Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living, London. An International, award-winning Artist - known as a polymath for Philanthropy- Mark is hailed as one of the most accomplished artists, inventors and designers of his generation. Since the mid 90's, Mark has created a wide and varied practice of architecture, interior, product, painting, sculpture and installation work, and explores the idea of philanthropic projects; developing the relationships between ideas, construction and audience well-being.
Mark's contribution to British Art and Design over the last two decades is recognised by his WW1 Centenary work partnered with The Royal British Legion, unveiled in Trafalgar Square and installed across the UK on a four-year tour.
His latest exhibition The Centenary Artist, exhibited at Grosvenor House Apartments, is inspired by his Great Grandfather's engraved brass bombshell, meticulously decorated by him in the trenches when he fought in the Somme, 1916. The stunningly designed works on display in the Atrium at Grosvenor House Apartments include Scars Of War, 2014, Centenary Solder, 2013-2014 and Tapestries of Ideas, 2014.
Also on display are pieces from Mark's Diamonds and Flames collection - Diamond Seat, a rock crystal and Belgian black marble glowing bench, to the towering amber, onyx and Belgian black marble Cone of Flames to the stately Inter-locking and Diamonds for her Cocktail illuminated side tables. Each of the carefully chosen pieces enhance and complement the striking and stylish design of Grosvenor House Apartments.
The ‘Cabinet of Masterpieces’ in the Atrium also offers a glimpse of some of the stunning pieces on display in our Penthouse Suites.
Mark's continued passionate commitment to the creative industry is demonstrated by his powerful ideas and enthusiastic output; dominated by quality, confidence, optimism and total belief in his work. His dedication to displaying public philanthropic art is forever growing, pursuing work in other areas such as education, health and poverty, climate change, wildlife and disease.
On Thursday 14th May 2015, Mark's latest collection The Philanthropy Artist will be unveiled in the striking Atrium at Grosvenor House Apartments.
