Summer tours of Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is one of the last working royal palaces in the world, and the Queen’s official home. Every August and September, when the Queen travels to Scotland to stay at Balmoral, Buckingham Palace opens its doors to the public.

On a tour of Buckingham Palace, visitors have the opportunity to see its 19 state rooms, the impressive ballroom and Buckingham Palace Gardens, which are the largest private gardens in the world.

Visiting Buckingham Palace throughout the year

Throughout the year, you can visit the Queen’s Gallery and the Royal Mews, home to the royal horses. The famous Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place outside Buckingham Palace every day in summer and every other day in winter, and marks the point at which the palace’s iconic red and black-clad sentries are changed.

If you have limited time to explore London, rest assured that Buckingham Palace is easy to find. Cosily situated between Hyde Park, St James Park and Green Park, the palace is also an easy walk from Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden.
