Cultural attractions in Kuwait

Wander the streets of Kuwait City, the capital, and marvel at how its architecture pays tribute to its history and modern achievements. Its most famous landmark is Kuwait Towers, built in 1977, which is characterised by a minaret-like design and has become a strong emblem of the city’s skyline.

The Grand Mosque and Seif Palace, located opposite one another, are also major cultural attractions. Seif Palace in particular is known for its exquisite Islamic mosaics, and has been recently renovated after being damaged during the First Gulf War. For insight into Kuwait’s history, visit the Kuwait National Museum. Nearby, Sadu House has informative exhibits showcasing the art and culture of Kuwait’s Bedouin society, who traditionally lived in the desert.

Elsewhere, Failaka Island – accessible by ferry – is home to a mesmerising array of archaeological sites. Browse remnants of Bronze Age and Greek cultures in the region, or relax on a traditional boat ride from the island.
