Major landmarks in Kuwait City

The most prominent landmark in Kuwait City is Kuwait Towers. These striking twin skyscrapers were designed by a Scandinavian architect but blend modern design with the traditional minaret found in Islamic architecture. Kuwait Towers dominates the capital’s skyline, and features in many photos as an emblem of the city.

Another major landmark in Kuwait City is Liberation Tower. This prominent spike is a telecommunications tower. Although it is closed to visitors, it features strongly in photos of the city and is one of Kuwait’s proudest modern architectural achievements.

Elsewhere, the Grand Mosque features heavily in photographs of Kuwait City too. Opened in 1986, this is the largest mosque in Kuwait and can accommodate over 10,000 worshippers. Nearby, Seif Palace – built at the end of the 19th century – attracts visitors to its mesmerising traditional mosaics.

Seasoned hikers may also enjoy the journey up to the Kazmah desert cliffs. This natural landmark is a popular tourist attraction, though you may wish to hire a guide if you are an inexperienced walker.
