Home to the European Central Bank, Frankfurt has a reputation for being a strongly commercial city but it is also a city that knows how to enjoy itself. From bankers to artists, everyone in Frankfurt comes together at night to relax in the city’s many bars and clubs.

Visitors new to Frankfurt’s nightlife should begin in Alt-Sachsenhausen, a part of the city that is lined with traditional bars serving the local speciality, apple wine. For spectacular views over Frankfurt, sip a cocktail at one of the city's rooftop bars and realise just why Frankfurt is nicknamed ‘Mainhattan’.

Bornheim and Nordend are popular spots for nightlife as well. The city’s sizeable overseas population means that international bars are found all around Frankfurt, and its energetic atmosphere attracts DJs from all over the world to its biggest clubs every weekend.

Frankfurt’s nightlife is also well-known for its eclectic live music scene. The city’s opera houses are celebrated across Europe, and offer the ideal introduction to this great European art form. Jazz clubs are particularly popular with in Frankfurt too - take a stroll down Kleine Bockenheimer Strasse, known as ‘Jazzgasse’ (Jazz Alley), to discover some of the best it has to offer.
