Lobby art tour via an iPod Nano

For centuries, poems and verses have been an integral part of learning and language for children around the world. In the 6th century AD, a Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty commissioned one of the finest calligraphers in China to compose a literacy primer for his little prince, resulting in the Thousand Character Classic, a unique rhymed text composed of 1,000 unique characters of the Chinese alphabet, used by learners till today. This timeless verse is emblazoned across the upper wall of the Lobby at Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai in lighted calligraphy as a tribute to the ancient culture of the region. Guests and visitors can view this and other significant works of art in the hotel’s collection through our complimentary Lobby Art Tour, guided by insightful commentary via an iPod nano available at the concierge.
