Karyn Williams-Sykes
A native of The Republic of Trinidad And Tobago, Karyn joined The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management after 5 years as Head of the Hospitality Department at the Community College of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
She has worked throughout the Caribbean in the Hospitality Industry, including The Bahamas, Jamaica and Tobago. A graduate of the University of the West Indies, Centre for Hotel and Tourism Management with a BSc. (Hons.) in Hotel Management, Karyn also has her MBA from the University of Leicester, UK and is an American Hotel and Motel Association (AH&MA) Certified Master Hospitality Trainer; and a WSET Certified Educator.
Prior to moving into the academic areas of the industry, Karyn has had extensive operations experience: a former Food and Beverage Manager, Industrial Catering Operations Manager and Hotel Association Manager. Since switching from operations to training, she has done hospitality and service training for many hotels, including the Sandals/Beaches Chain of Resorts, The Sands Turks and Caicos Resort and Club Med Turkoise. Outside of the hospitality industry, Karyn has done Customer Service training for Prestige Holdings Caribbean (KFC/Pizza Hut), Courts Furniture International and The National Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago.
In the past four years, Karyn has designed and delivered training to the Executive Office of the Prime Minister (Dubai, UAE), The Executive Council, Dubai Healthcare City, John Keells Hotels in Sri Lanka and The Maldives, Airways Hotel in Papua New Guinea and many more.
