PGA Tour 2010

The Quail Hollow Championship Title was an early birthday present for Global Jumeirah Ambassador Rory McIlroy, who celebrates his 21st birthday on Tuesday, May 4th.

After his first Tournament win in Dubai at the Dubai Desert Classic 2009, Rory put on an unforgettable weekend show that ended with his first PGA Tour victory in the USA.

He shot a 10-under-par 62 and came from four strokes off the pace to beat Phil Mickelson by four strokes and Ángel Cabrera by five in the Quail Hollow Championship. Rory played flawless golf and put together a scintillating final round of 62 to win the Quail Hollow Championship by four shots from Masters Champion, Phil Mickelson.

After shooting 72 and 73 in the first two rounds he made the halfway cut on the mark and really got going on Saturday shooting a 66 which lifted him into the top ten.

Going into the final round he was five under par and four shots back of overnight leader Billy Mayfair.

Rory made eight birdies and an eagle in his course record breaking round of 62 with the finale coming at the eighteenth where he sunk a monster putt to take the title.

Rory is the youngest player to win on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods in 1996.

"I suppose I got into the zone, I hadn't realized I was going in 9, 10 under. I just know I got my nose in front and I was just trying to stay there." Rory said "It's been a crazy ride until this point; I'm just delighted to get here. To get my first win in the U.S. is special."
