Rory achieves highest world ranking to date!

14 December 2009: During 2009 Rory showed that he is a force to be reckoned with in world golf and currently is in 9th position in the World Rankings. In February Rory celebrated his maiden European Tour victory winning the Dubai Desert Classic. Prior to that he had finished 2nd tied in the  UBS Hong Kong Open after losing in a play-off with Lin Wen Tang, 3rd tied in the South African Open and 5th tied in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.

1 December 2009: Global Jumeirah Ambassador Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell finished in a tie for second place in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup in China this weekend.  The winners were Italy's Molinari brothers on -29 under par.

Taking place over one full year, this year’s Race To Dubai began in Shanghai with the HSBC Champions event on 6 November 2008 and ends at Jumeirah Golf Estates on 22 November 2009 with the Dubai World Championship.

12 November 2009: This weekend our Jumeirah Global Ambassador Rory McIlroy continued his winning streak finishing 2nd at this year’s UBS Hong Kong Open. Rory shot 66, 68, 65 and a 64 this weekend leaving him on -17 under, -2 under  the leader Gregory Bourdy.

10 November 2009: This week Rory returns to Fanling Golf Club in Hong Kong for the UBS Hong Kong Open. Last season Rory reached the final in a play-off for the title with  Lin Wen-tang after they and Italy's Francesco Molinari finished regulation play at fifteen under par ending with Lin Wen-tang taking the title.

19 October 2009: The Volvo World Match Play Championship at Finca Cortesin in Spain promises to be a fierce contest for Jumeirah Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy. Rory now holds 3rd position in the Race To Dubai as Germany's Martin Kaymer passed him due to his second place finish in the Castello Masters Costa Azahar last week, both players are behind Lee Westwood who currently holds the number one spot.

3 October 2009: Rory produced another exhibition of his sublime talent to fire a seven under par 65 that earned him a share of the lead on the second day of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He began the day four under par at St Andrews, and eventually walked off the final green after carding six birdies and an eagle at ‘The Home of Golf’ to earn himself a place at the top of the leaderboard.
