Q. When did the hotel open?
A. Burj Al Arab opened in December 1999.

 

Q. How many years did it take to build the hotel?
A. It took 2 years to reclaim the land from the sea and a little less than three years to construct the building.

 

Q. Who are the designer, constructors and interior designers associated with the hotel?
A. The hotel was constructed by WS Atkins Partners Overseas, the concept architect was Mr Thomas Wills Wright and the interior designers were KCA International, led by Ms Kuan Chew.

 

Q. How much did it cost to build the hotel?
A. This information has not been announced.

 

Q. Are all the gold fittings inside the hotel real?
A. Yes, the gold furniture and fittings are original 22 carat gold leaf.

 

Q. How long do guests usually stay at the hotel?
A. Most guests stay for approximately 3 nights and 4 days.

 

Q. Are pets allowed in the hotel?
A. No, pets are not allowed.

Q. What is the hotel’s policy about lost and found items?
A. Should any guests lose personal belongings whilst staying at Burj Al Arab, if recovered, the item will be recorded as 'found'.

 

We keep detailed records of all 'found' items, and will store these for a maximum of three months. After this period, in line with the directives of the General Department of Criminal Investigation in Dubai, all unclaimed items will be handed over to the nearest Police Station.

 

These 'found' items will then be kept at the police warehouse for a further three months after which they will be auctioned, and any funds raised given to charity.

 

Should hotel guests need to locate any item after the initial three month period expires, they are requested to contact the hotel who will assist in coordinating with the police station where the found items are handed over. The police will then advise the necessary procedures to locate any item.

 

ROOMS & SUITES

Q. How many Suites does the hotel have?
A. The hotel comprises of 202 duplex suites.

 

Q. At what time can I check in and at what time do I have to check out?
A. Guests are requested to check in from 3:00 pm on the day of arrival and check out by 12:00 noon on the day of departure.

 

Q. Can I check in early? Can I check out late?
A. Requests for early check in or late check out are honoured as space permits. If the hotel is full, we may be unable to grant your request. However, you are invited to store luggage and enjoy the amenities until your suite becomes available or you may continue to use all of the hotel's amenities until your departure time.

 

Q. Do you have interconnecting rooms?
A. No, our suites do not interconnect.

 

Q. Are safety deposit boxes available?
A. Yes, we have safe deposit boxes in every suite.

 

DINING

Q. How many restaurants and bars does the hotel have?
A. The hotel has six restaurants and bars.

 

Q. Can I make an online restaurant reservation?
A. Please make a restaurant reservation request by sending an email to BAArestaurants@jumeirah.com. Be sure to include the name of the restaurant, your full name, telephone number, email and details of your request. You will receive a confirmation, letting you know whether your reservation has been confirmed.

 

Q. Is it true that one of the restaurants is located underwater?
A. The Al Mahara restaurant is not located underwater; it is located on the ground floor, on the same level as the lobby. It is an underwater-themed restaurant and features a huge aquarium surrounding the dining areas. Entry to the restaurant is aboard a three minute simulated submarine experience.

A. Guests are able to access the Internet, on a complimentary basis, directly from their suite.

Q. Is clothing optional for sunbathing at the hotel?

A. Topless sunbathing is not permitted under UAE law. In the event a guest chooses to participate in this activity, the Hotel's management will intervene immediately.

 

Q. Is there a shuttle service available to the city?

A. The hotel does not provide a shuttle service from the hotel to the city but all guests are able to use the shuttle service from Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Mina A' Salam, subject to availability. We do also offer a chauffeured Rolls Royce transfer service at an additional cost.

 

Q. Do you organise safaris and tours?

A. Desert safaris and tours can be arranged at the hotel upon arrival through the hotel's concierge.

 

Q. Does a guest of the hotel have complimentary access to Wild Wadi?

A. Guests of Burj Al Arab have unlimited complimentary access to the Wild Wadi Water Park during their stay.

 

CHILDREN

 

Q. Are children welcome in the hotel?

A. Yes, children are more than welcome in the hotel.

 

Q. Is a babysitting service available?

A. Yes, we do provide a babysitting service, but this needs to be pre-booked.

 

Q. Do you have facilities for children?

A. There are lots of activities for children at the hotel and at the adjoining Wild Wadi and Sinbad's Kids Club at Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Q. Why is my credit card needed to make a reservation?

A. Your credit card details are required to make a reservation but will not be charged at the time of booking. Your credit card is only used as a form of guarantee.

CLIMATE

 

Q. What type of temperature can you experience in Dubai?

A. Dubai has a sub-tropical, arid climate. Sunny blue skies and warm temperatures can be expected most of the year. Winter starts from November through until March. The mean daily maximum is 24C (75F) in January, rising to 41C (106F) in July.
